John William "Bill" Stuhner, 96, of Cole Camp, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at his home. He was born on December 5, 1927, on the family farm northeast of Mora, Missouri, a son of John August and Leota Marie (Simon) Stuhner.

Bill was baptized as an infant at Lamb Lutheran Church on M Highway. He grew up in Mora and attended Prairie Grove School through the eighth grade. He farmed in Mora and Cole Camp area. He enjoyed barn dances on Saturday nights and spending time with his buddies.

In 1957, he was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia. His baptismal sponsors were Harold and Pearl Stuhner. Bill was united in marriage to Mary Catherine Klein on May 11, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia. The couple traveled to New York and down the east coast on their honeymoon.

Bill was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cole Camp. He farmed with his parents, John and Leota, his wife Mary, and his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Pearl. He liked country music and square dancing and will be remembered for raising the biggest black cattle in Benton County.

Bill is survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Leota Stuhner, his wife, Mary “Henry” Stuhner, seven sisters, Della Smith, Edna Brosch, Elsie Pearl Robinson, Opal Straka, Myrtle Semkin, Mary Hoff, and Bernice Stuhner, and three brothers, Harold "Bud" Stuhner, Carl Stuhner, and Walter Stuhner.

The family received friends from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cole Camp with a rosary at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cole Camp with Father Ben Nwosu officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia. Pallbearers were Leroy Perkins, Jim Perkins, Terry Harms, Mark Chamberlin, Dennis Goetz, Harold Weinberg, Danny Templeton, and Ray Perkins.
