The Warsaw softball team gathered one last time on Thursday evening to acknowledge and celebrate accomplishments from this past season, both individual and as a team, including the MSHSAA Class 2 spring softball state championship, the program's second ever and first since 2010.
The Ladycats finished with an overall record of 24-2 with their only two losses coming to eventual state champions, Class 6A Bentonville (AR) and Class 1 Concordia (MO).
Warsaw also quite literally blanked the Ozark Highlands Conference at 4-0 with shutout wins in each of those contests (Butler, 10-0; Versailles, 15-0; Eldorado Springs, 1-0; Adrian, 18-0).
After a 4-0 loss to Bentonville in their opening game of the season, the Ladycats rattled off 18 straight wins, including victories over seven ranked opponents (two number ones) before falling to Class 1 number one Concordia in a 1-0 final on May 6.
At 18-2, Warsaw entered the Class 2 District 7 tournament as the number one seed. There, they defeated Pleasant Hope in the opening round with a 10-0 final and then defeated Eldorado Springs, 5-1. In a rematch from a regular season game, Warsaw then defeated Skyline, 2-1 for the Class 2 District 7 title to advance to the state playoffs.
In the Class 2 state tournament, the Ladycats hosted Lone Jack in the quarterfinals where they disposed of Lone Jack, 8-1 to move on to the Final Four in Springfield.
At the 2025 MSHSAA Spring Softball State Championships, Warsaw faced off with Ava in their semifinal where they defeated the Bears, 5-0 for a chance to bring home another state championship for the program. Subsequently, the Ladycats rewrote history when they hung on to beat the Diamond Wildcats, 1-0 for the title.
