Lakeview Heights Area News

Just because the lake season slowed with Labor Day doesn’t mean there isn’t anything happening at Lakeview Heights.

With the resumption of school for the area youth the ladies of the Countryside Eagles #4286 made the rounds of the schools at Lincoln, Stover and Cole Camp to make their annual donation of school supplies.

The Lakeview Heights Fire Department held their annual fund raising fish fry which is supported by the local community. This year they had an extra push for funds to replace hydraulic hoses on some of the equipment and the support from district’s residents made it possible for the department to raise approximately $9,000.

The Countryside Eagles, Aerie and Auxiliary, busied themselves with two separate fund raisers on behalf of Operation Barbecue Relief that suffered such tremendous losses in a devastating fire that destroyed facilities and equipment at the camp they operate for service people and first responders suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. First they hosted a fun game and food day and later held a steak dinner. Together they raised $2,357.50 for OBR.

The Lakeview Heights Fire Department had responded to a mutual aid call to assist the Cole Camp Department at the scene on B highway on Friday, September 20. An electrical fire in the basement of a structure was quickly extinguished with minimal damage.

Saturday, September 21 the Countryside Eagles hosted their annual Poker Run fund raiser for the Lakeview Heights Fire Department. The Lodge started serving a hearty breakfast at 7 a.m. The Auxiliary held a bake sale and the Poker Run began at noon with golf carts and ATV’s starting at the Lodge on H highway, then making their way to Katt’s Place. From there it was down to Buck Naked Marina with the next stop at the Lakeview Heights Park and then back to the Lodge.

The members had also held a 50/50 raffle to raise extra funding. The Bake Sale brought in $365.00 and the raffle and Poker Run raised $1,010. which will be given to the Fire Department. Obviously the Eagles didn’t feel like they had raised enough so they are planning another 50/50 raffle to be added to the pot. Some of the firemen brought their new rescue truck for display and were on hand to explain its features.

The motto of the Countryside Eagles #4286 is “Neighbor helping Neighbor” and when you look around the little village of Lakeview Heights it seems to be a way of life.
