Lincoln Girls Struggle In Loss To Windsor

Posted
It was a full night if basketball last Tuesday at Lincoln High School. Senior Night brought out a good crowd. The JV boys won and so did the undefeated boys varsity.
However, for the girls it was the nightmare on Lamine St. Coming off their biggest win of the season with a 13 point come from behind consolation victory over Cole Camp in the Kaysinger Conference tournament, they were the favorite at home against a 4-18 Windsor squad.
As one might say, no such luck, as Windsor won 38-25 in a game that sent first year Lincoln Coach Brett Byrant off scratching his head.
"We had no energy. To their credit, Windsor hit some shots," Coach Bryant said.
As unorthodox as a few were, yes, Windsor made their shots and put Lincoln in a hole early on. It was 12-5 after one and 22-12 after two.
The nightmare continued as the girls scored just two points in the third as it was 35-14.
Coach Byrant commented, "I didn't say much at halftime. I told them to figure it out. "
He added, "Our girls need to live in the gym and overcome our flaws."
The silver lining is that even the best teams sometimes come out flat after a big win and if it is going to happen then it is better now than in the district playoffs in two weeks.
