Lincoln Goes 1-2 On Recent Road Trip

The Lincoln softball team experienced a mixed bag of outcomes this past week. On Monday, they lost to Skyline 1-0 on the road. Freshman MacKenna Shockley outdueled Braylin Paxton in a pitching duel. Shockley drove in the game's only run with a double in the sixth inning.

On Tuesday, the Lady Cards traveled to Northwest and took a beating in four innings 16-1. Northwest, the top ranked team in Class 1, had beaten Lincoln 9-4 in Lincoln for the Kaysinger Conference championship on Saturday.

This time, Rebekah Helland took the hill and only gave up 6 hits but 9 walks and 7 errors did the damage. Northwest scored 7 in the first and 6 in the third to bust things open.

Danika Gillespie scored on an error in the second.

Valarie Meyer pitched a no-hitter for the Lady Mustangs, striking out 5 and walking 6.

On Wednesday, Lincoln went back on the road to rout LaMonte 23-1 in three innings. Paxton returned to the mound for the victory giving up just 1 hit, had 9 strikeouts and 2 walks.

She drove in 3 runs going 1 for 1 while Courtney Stephens had 2 RBI's. They scored 16 runs in the second for the much needed sweet victory.

Lincoln moved to 9-7 on the season.
