Lincoln Wins OT Thriller, Beats Tipton

The recent snowy, icy weather forced a Saturday afternoon makeup game between Kaysinger Conference foes, the Lincoln Cardinals and the Tipton Cardinals.

The varsity contest saw Lincoln pull out a 59-55 overtime thriller at home. It was 51 all at the end of regulation.

Lincoln went 5 for 8 from the free throw line in the extra period to pull out the sweet victory. Riley Sanders nailed a huge three pointer in the overtime and shared top Lincoln honors with the 2024 Lincoln Male Athlete of the Year Ben Eckhoff with 17 points apiece.

Ben Bestgen went wild with seven 3-pointers to finish with 29 points for Tipton.

In a see-saw battle, it was Tipton 9-8 after one, Lincoln 24- 21 at the half and Tipton 36-33 after three.

Lincoln jumped to 9-2 and Tipton fell to 3-7.

The junior varsity matchup went to Lincoln, 51-28 with Grayson Rutherford leading the way with 15 points.

In the C game, Tipton won 24-16 in two quarters of play.
