Lincoln jumped out to a 6 run first inning lead but faltered in a 16-10 upset loss to Green Ridge in Northwest in one of two Class 1 District 7 semifinals on Monday.
Lincoln got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Rebekah Helland doubled to score two runs, Katy Cook singled in a run, a dropped third strike scored two runs, and an error scored one run.
Green Ridge took advantage of some sloppy play in the top of the third and scored seven runs on just three hits to take the lead at 7-6. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that scored 2 runs.
Green Ridge scored five runs on two hits in the top of the fourth inning. Abby Warner grounded out and scored one run, an error scored two more, and Kali Young drove in two on a homer to right field..
Mikensey Devorss earned the win for Green Ridge. The pitcher surrendered 11 hits and 10 runs (four earned) over seven innings, struck out six and walked three.
Lady Cards senior Braylin Paxton took the loss for Lincoln, thus ending her career. The hurler went five innings, served up 15 runs (two earned) on only six hits, struck out three and walked four.
Skyler Arbuckle and Rebekah Helland each drove in two runs for Lincoln. The line went Green Ridge 16-11-3 and Lincoln 10-11-5
Lincoln had defeated Green Ridge twice already this season, 10-0 and 4-3.
The Lady Cardinals ended their season with an impressive overall record of 20-4.
