Lutheran Women Host Spring Rally

On Tuesday, April 16, the women of the Sedalia Zone of the Lutheran Women in Mission, LWML, an auxiliary of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. met for their Spring Rally at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, Missouri. The Rally was hosted by the women of St. John’s Cole Camp, Trinity, Clinton, and Trinity, Creighton

The Spring Rally theme was “Gone Fishing”, based on Matthew 4:18-20, “And he, (Jesus) said to them “…follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Alice Miesner, St. John’s delivered the welcome. Roberta Schnakenberg, President of the Sedalia Zone introduced Stephanie Snyder, Vice President, Special Focus Ministries, of the Missouri District LWML gave greetings. She encouraged members to attend the Missouri District Convention this June in Independence.

Pastor Poppen, St. John’s and Holy Cross, led the opening devotion, followed by the Bible Study, based on Matthew 4:18 Jesus calls out to His people. He chose His disciples, not the other way around. Karen Oelrich, St. John’s introduced the guest speaker Debra Eckhoff, Principal of the Lutheran School Association, Hybrid High School. She and some of her students made a presentation of what types of things they are learning and the importance of a Christian education in today’s world. A “Love Offering” of over $1,000 was collected as well as hundreds of items donated as the ingathering.

Doris Viets, St. John’s, Cole Camp, Zone Vice President, presided over the election of officers. Roberta was reelected as president, Letica Harms was reelected as secretary and Pastor Tessone, Our Savior, Sedalia, was elected as the new Pastoral Counselor.

Following a delicious lunch and fellowship the afternoon session was called to order. Minutes and treasurer’s report read and standing committees delivered their reports. The General Offering was collected with the proceeds to go to “Mites.” These “mites” support missions. For 80 years, Lutheran Women in Mission have joyfully proclaimed Christ, supported missions, and equipped women to honor God by serving others. In its years of existence, the women of LWML have donated more than $100,000,000.00 to missions in the US and around the world.

An invitation was extended to the Fall Rally to be held at Faith Lutheran Church, Warsaw on October 29. It will be co-hosted by Peace Lutheran-Camdenton, Faith Lutheran-Warsaw and St. Paul’s- Stover. A skit was performed based on the Fall Rally theme, “Fruits of the Spirit” from Galatians 5:22-23. There were 60 members and guests in attendance.
