Lynde Pitches Lincoln To Consolation

The Lincoln Cardinals took consolation honors on Thursday at Centennial Park in Sedalia in the Kaysinger Conference tournament. 
The Cardinals beat Windsor, 3-1 behind the three hit seven inning pitching performance of Connor Lynde. Lynde struck out 12 and walked 0 in his best pitching effort of the season.
Burkhart started and went 2.0 innings before leaving the game with a pulled muscle in his arm. He continued in the game at second base. Eaton came in on relief and gave up the other two Lincoln runs.
Lincoln scored in the first as Lynde, moved up in the lineup, walked, Zaden Cole singled and a double steal brought both batters up in scoring position. An error off the bat of Cam Everhart allowed Lynde to score. 
The rest of the scoring in the game happened in the third inning. Lincoln would add 2 more on a single to right by Hunter Vandaveer scoring Jayden Kelly and Cam Everhart.
Windsor would score their run on a sacrifice fly by Eaton that allowed Heany to score.
Lynde, the senior going to State Fair to play baseball, was in a groove striking out the side in the fifth.
Windsor committed 4 errors while Lincoln only 1.  Lincoln jumped to 13-7 on the season.
On Monday at home Lincoln defeated Otterville, 2-1. Kaleb Mundy, who sat out several games recovering from an injury attained in their sectional basketball game against Salisbury, pitched 5.0 innings allowing 1 hit, striking out 6. He gave way to Dawson Parrott after cutting his finger on a play at the plate. He remained in the game taking over at third base.
Lincoln scored both of their runs in the fifth. Mundy walked and scored on a sacrifice fly by Parrott.  Parrott would score on a double by cleanup hitter Cam Everhart.
An error opened the door for Otterville with 2 outs in the seventh. Coveland would single and steal second, Berry reached on the error. Coveland would score. Then Woolery lined out to Jayden Kelly in left field who had the batter played perfectly to end the game and preserve the victory for Lincoln.
