The Lincoln Cardinals moved their record to 15-10 on the season as they prepared for districts on Monday with a 9-1 victory over Crest Ridge at home on Senior Night.
Lincoln's Thursday game with Tipton at home was rained out as were the other games scheduled throughout the area. The Cardinals are seeded first in their district and will play at home on Monday having received a first round bye. The two play-in games were on Saturday.
Connor Lynde, senior pitcher, went the full 7.0 innings against Crest Ridge giving up one run on four hits. Lynde threw 64 strikes on 86 pitches and struck out 16 in probably his best outing of the year. The Lincoln defense went errorless throughout the contest which is a rare feat considering their sometimes error-prone defense this season. Crest Ridge only made one error in the game. Lincoln's 9 runs on 9 hits were also propelled by their 12 stolen bases on the evening. Hunter Vandaveer and Lynde each stole 3 while Zaden Cole swiped 2. Lynde went 1 for 2 with a walk and being hit by pitch scoring 3 runs. Crest Ridge never stole a base.
Cam Everhart went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's, scoring 3 runs and walked once. Lincoln scored 2 in the first, 3 in the third and 4 in the sixth. Crest Ridge scored their run in the sixth on a double to left by Buttram and a single to center field by Livengood.
McKenzie, Livengood and Ducus were all on the mound for Crest Ridge.
