Martin H. Heins, age 61, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at his home. He was born on November 15, 1964, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Helmut and Renate Heins.
Martin graduated from Truman High School in Independence Missouri. After graduation he pursued an engineering degree from the University of Missouri–Rolla.
Following college, he moved to Los Angeles, where he designed roads for Caltrans. After experiencing life in California and deciding he had his fill of bureaucracy, he returned closer to home and accepted a position with George Butler Associates (GBA) in Lenexa, Kansas. Martin later took a leap of faith by leaving GBA and opening his own engineering business in scenic Warsaw, Missouri. He successfully transitioned from road design to well and septic system design, embracing the hands-on nature of the work. He especially enjoyed the opportunity to step away from the desk and spend time working outdoors in the fresh air.
Martin met his soulmate, Jill Heins, and together they shared 27 wonderful years filled with many hobbies and shared passions. It was always Jill’s goal to rescue animals, a mission that soon became Martin’s as well. They were often seen walking along the harbor. They shared a deep love for reading, learning, and animal rescue.
Martin is survived by his devoted wife, Jill Heins; his parents, Helmut and Renate Heins of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and his brother, Dave (Denise) Heins of Bluffton, South Carolina.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Reser Funeral Home, 101 W. Main Street, Warsaw. Interment will follow the funeral at the Shawnee Cemetery, Warsaw.
