Mary Rae Scott, 92, of Clinton, Missouri passed away early Tuesday morning, June 4, 2024 at the Clinton Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton. She was born October 7, 1931 in Warsaw, Mo., the daughter of Ray Clarence Stadler and Opal Matildia (Beaman) Stadler.
She married John Gerald Scott on December 22, 1951 in Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on February 2, 1987.
Mary was employed as a teacher in Iconium, Mo.; post mistress in Wisdom, Mo.; she was also a substitute teacher in the Kansas City, Kansas school district; and later was head bookkeeper for Westport Bank for 20 years, retiring in 1984. She was a graduate of Warsaw High School and later attended Central Missouri State University, now University of Central Missouri. Mary was a member of Finey Baptist Church and also First Baptist Church in Clinton. She enjoyed playing cards, family vacations and traveling.
She is survived by two sons, Mike Scott (Vicky), Clinton, Mo., and Mitchell Scott, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; two grandsons, Neil Scott and John Scott; one great-grandson, Nikolai Griffitt.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Terry Scott on April 13, 1975; and one brother, Daniel Hugh Stadler in 20212.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., just prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Iconium Cemetery, Iconium, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Iconium Cemetery or the Finey Baptist Church, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
