Matt L. Murphy, Sr., age 71, of Warsaw, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Lincoln Community Care Center.
He was born on June 3, 1954, in Lexington, Missouri, the son of Winston and Dortha (Unger) Murphy. Matt grew up in the Kansas City area and was a graduate of Fort Osage High School.
Matt was united in marriage to Barbara Murphy, and to this union one son, Matt Murphy, Jr., was born. Following their divorce, Matt later remarried Peggy Murphy.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Winston and Dortha Murphy, and one brother, Edmond D. Murphy.
He is survived by his son, Matt Murphy, Jr. and his wife Sarah of Kansas City; two grandchildren, Alyssa Murphy and Matt Murphy III; and one brother, John Murphy and his wife Gayle of Warsaw.
Funeral services for Matt L. Murphy, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Reser Funeral Home, 101 W. Main Street, Warsaw. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Shawnee Cemetery in Warsaw.
