Michael J. Moran, age 80, of Edwards, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Lincoln Community Care Center.
Michael was born on May 1, 1945, in Superior, Wisconsin, the son of Robert and Ruth (Ledin) Moran. He grew up in Walla Walla, Washington, and later moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he graduated from Omaha North High School. On April 11, 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Arlyn Kay Jensen.
In 1969, Michael and Arlyn moved to Peru, Nebraska, where they made their home for 20 years and raised their family. Together they founded Moran Plumbing and Heating, working side by side as partners in the business for nearly fifty years. The business continues today under the operation of their son, Eric. In 1989, they moved to Edwards, Missouri to retire and raise cattle. They owned and operated Blue Goose Bait and Tackle.
Michael loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid beekeeper in both Nebraska and Missouri and took great pride in designing and selling several of his own beekeeping designs through Moran Busy Bees. A hardworking and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Michael treasured time spent traveling with his wife and family. He was also a loyal fan of Nebraska Cornhuskers football.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlyn Moran, on January 28, 2023; and his brother, Jay Moran.
Michael is survived by his three children: Scott Moran and wife Jami of Warsaw, Missouri; Melissa Turner and husband Barry of Savannah, Missouri; and Eric Moran and wife Janelle of Tecumseh, Nebraska. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Branden Anderson and wife Holly of Warsaw; Ty Moran and wife Raven of Warsaw; Maddie and Morgan Moran of Tecumseh, Nebraska; and Kaylyn and Jensen Turner of Savannah, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Ella Anderson, Sam Anderson, and Van Moran of Warsaw, Missouri; two sisters, Jackie Landolt and husband Gary of Omaha, Nebraska, and Judy Still of Omaha, Nebraska; a brother, Terry Moran and wife Diane of Highland, Kansas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Arrangements for his cremation are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home, 101 W. Main Street, Warsaw, Missouri.
