Miesner Honored By Choir During Spring Cantata

On Sunday, May 11, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp the Cole Camp Community Singers held their spring cantata at 4:00 PM. Many of the area attended the performance that was made possible by approximately thirty singers under the direction of Sam Cole. One of those singers was Elaine Miesner and the group decided to honor her many years of dedication she has given to her community.

Miesner was presented with flowers accompanied by these words. “This community is blessed that there are so many who not only love to sing but are willing to put the work and time into sharing their God given talent. In this group you will find farmers, bankers, students, carpenters, teachers, retired folks and many more community friends who are willing to give up one night a week for six or seven weeks to work on the two Cantatas that we do each year. We hope you have enjoyed all of them and they have blessed your life. We are already looking forward to next year’s Cantatas. Sadly one of the founding members of our group is retiring from the Choir.

This wonderful lady was given the gift of a beautiful voice early in her life. And she uses it now as she did back then to bring glory to her Lord. Her church choir was the first place she shared her talent publicly when she was confirmed in 1946. From then on there was no stopping her. She performed solo’s, sang in sextets, quartets, trios and duets, first in school competitions, and then at many community events. She was also the soloist requested for weddings and funerals. As one of the charter members of the German Choir she spent many years singing in, but also helping others learn the songs in German. And the Cole Camp Community Choir has been blessed to have her superior soprano voice from its first performance here at Trinity. She has also passed her love and talent for music on to her children as we have her daughter and grandson who also sing in the group.

Even though she is stepping down from the Community Choir, I doubt she will ever stop singing. Elaine Miesner, please accept this simple gift of flowers as a reminders of how much you and your beautiful soprano voice have meant to this choir, and to those who have had the joy of hearing you sing and have sung with you these many, many years.” Elaine’s grandson, Dana Oelrichs, stood by his grandmother as she accepted the recognition give by the Choir Director, Sam Cole.
