Oscar James Schlotzhauer, age 85, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
He was born November 20, 1940, the son of Virgil Schlotzhauer and Eunice (Hickam) Schlotzhauer. Oscar grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Raytown High School in 1958. In his youth, he was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an achievement that reflected the character and determination he carried throughout his life.
On March 9, 1969, Oscar was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Lakey. They made their home in Kansas City before moving to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where they resided for eighteen years. Oscar was employed as a Material Manager for General Motors, dedicating many years of service before retiring in 1995. Following retirement, he and Sue moved to Warsaw, Missouri, to enjoy a quieter pace of life.
Oscar had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was never hesitant to take a long hike to reach a favorite fishing or hunting spot. He also found great satisfaction in woodworking and spent several years working at the fish hatchery in Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lowell, Aubrey, and Barry Schlotzhauer; one stepson, Jerry Richcreek; and one grandson, Justin Richcreek.
Oscar is survived by his loving wife, Sue Schlotzhauer, of the home; four children, Bo Schlotzhauer of Warsaw, Missouri, James Schlotzhauer and his wife Daphney of Miami, Florida, Lori Schlotzhauer of Denver, Colorado, Gary Schlotzhauer and his wife Jeanie of Olathe, Kansas, and Randy Richcreek of Warrensburg, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
