Ramah Yvonne “Lulie” (Henderson) Shinn, age 86, of Gepp, Arkansas, formerly of rural Wisdom, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at her home.
She was born February 18, 1939, in Benton County, Missouri, the daughter of Homer C. and Ramah (Breshears) Henderson.
When she was 11 years old, Yvonne was convicted and saved on a Sunday morning at South New Home Missionary Baptist Church, where she became a member.
She attended grade school at Hogles Creek School in Benton County where she met her future husband, Charles Edward Shinn. She loved to tell the story of Ed, telling her years down the line, how God had shown him in the schoolyard that he would marry Yvonne Henderson. She attended High School at Weaubleau High, where she was on the basketball team, graduating in 1957. After graduating she worked as a school secretary, in a diner and at Bishop Gun Stock Company.
On December 31, 1960 she was united in marriage to Charles Edward Shinn. They were married for 61 years at the time of his death. They made their home in Kansas City, Mo. where they welcomed and raised their two daughters. She worked at TG&Y and Parkview Drug Store before 1973 when she began working for the Kansas City Public School District, filling many roles until her retirement in 2001. During those years she was also a part-time cake decorator. She and Ed then moved to rural Wisdom, Mo. where they resided until their move to Sedalia, Mo. in 2020. In 2022 she moved to Mountain Home, Ar. Due to declining health, she moved to Gepp, Ar. in 2024 to live on her daughter’s farm where she resided until her death.
Yvonne was a faithful church goer, deacon's wife and prayer warrior, who loved to refer to Wednesday night service as her “filling station”. At her passing she was a member of Mt. Calm Missionary Baptist Church in Gepp, Ar. She was passionate about sending cards to family and friends for various occasions. Socializing came natural to her and she never met a stranger. She enjoyed any opportunity to visit, such as sitting at her daughter’s farm stand, where she loved to chat and had a smile for everyone who stopped by.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Shinn and great-grandson, Liam Hilkert. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers , a sister, and their spouses; four brother-in-laws and two sister-in-laws.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Shrable (Jeff) of Gepp, Ar., and Kelly Shinn-Greenawalt (Duane) of Bates City, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Jacqueline Porter (Shane), Patrick Shrable (Jeneea), Jeana Hilkert (James), Zachary Edward Beyer (Alex), Mikayla Ippolito (Tony), Rachel Sharp (Christian), and Katie Greenawalt; and fourteen great-grandchildren, Jackson Bullard (Kaitlin), Harrison Bullard, Avery Renshaw, Aidan Shrable, Easton Shrable, Ramah Brison, CharlesHilkert, Elijah Hilkert, Piper Malisheski, Hunter Ippolito, Connor Ippolito, Gabriel Sharp, Melody Sharp and Olivia Sharp; and one great-great-granddaughter Lyla June Bullard. She was looking forward to the arrival of another great-granddaughter, Quincy Rae Beyer, in March.
She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Esther Lowe of Knob Noster, Mo. and numerous other relatives and friends, and nieces and nephews who lovingly called her “Aunt Lulie”.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Reser Funeral Home, 101 W. Main Street, Warsaw. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
