Robert H. Bacon, 93, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at his home.
Robert was born June 15, 1932, in Bolivar, Missouri, the son of Clifford and Alma (Hood) Bacon. He grew up in Bolivar and graduated from Bolivar High School. On August 29, 1952 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Betty Sue Locke.
Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Riley near Manhattan, Kansas. Following his honorable discharge, Robert and Betty returned to Bolivar for a short time before settling in Kansas City.
While living in Kansas City, Robert became a member of the Carpenters Union and worked as a cabinet maker for Colonial Fixture Company, where he specialized in store fixtures. Over the years he contributed his craftsmanship to several high-profile projects, including locations in the Country Club Plaza, Crown Center, and Tivol Jewelers.
In 1995, Robert and Betty retired and moved to Pomme de Terre Lake where they enjoyed the quieter pace of life. Robert loved working with his hands and was known for his skill and attention to detail. He also enjoyed collecting coins and was a devoted fan of auto racing, often visiting his local track, Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri.
One of Robert’s favorite traditions was making Cinnamon Red Candy, a recipe he learned while serving in the Army from a local candy maker. He first made it for his fellow soldiers at Ft. Riley and continued the tradition for decades, sharing the sweet treat with family and friends. The recipe remained a closely guarded secret until just a few years ago.
Robert was a devoted man of faith. He served as a deacon at Englewood Baptist Church in Kansas City. After moving to the area, he transferred his membership to Hermitage Baptist Church and later attended Cross Timbers Baptist Church.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Sue Bacon; his parents, Clifford and Alma Bacon; and three brothers, Bill, Clifford, and Charles Bacon.
He is survived by two children, Roberta Richey (Kim Daniel) of Olathe, Kansas, and Dale Bacon of Warsaw; one granddaughter, Kerry Adkins (Andrew) of St. Charles, Missouri; and two great-grandchildren, Carter Andrew and Kaelyn Jane Adkins.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. Interment will follow at Payne Cemetery near Polk, Missouri.
