Born September 29, 1937, in Malta Bend, Missouri, Bob was the son of the late Burr P. Edde and Helen L. Bryan Edde. Early in his career, he worked as a tractor mechanic at Bryan Implement before becoming an auto mechanic for Scott’s Garage on Salt Pond Street in Marshall during the 1960s. In the 1970s, he transitioned to working as a diesel mechanic on big rig trucks and servicing Thermo King AC units on trailers.
Outside his mechanic work, Bob was also a commercial fisherman on the Missouri River — a side job that reflected his lifelong love of the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Ham radio, and was a dedicated motorcycle rider for much of his life.
In 1976, Bob married his second wife, Minnie Mae “Mitzi” Kintz, and together they built a small home in Malta Bend. In the early 1990s, they purchased a place on the Osage River in Warsaw, where they restored a cabin and built a workshop. After retiring in 2000, Bob spent more time fishing and hosting his famous annual fish fries, where family and friends gathered to share food and stories.
After Mitzi’s passing, Bob remained in Warsaw for 11 years before moving to Slater, Missouri, in 2015 to be closer to family. There, he restored another small home and built a garage, continuing his lifelong passion for hands-on projects.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Lyon (Danny) of rural Marshall; one son, Martin Edde of Marshall; two stepsons, Rick Kintz (Kathy) of Liberty, and Victor Kintz of Eldon; one sister, Norma Mobley (Bill) of Slater; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mary Roe of Blackwater; one brother-in-law, Larry Pagel of Eldon; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Bob’s family would also like to recognize his dear friend of 67 years, Bill McMahan of Warsaw, as well as his fishing buddy, Bill Erickson, and radio buddy, Porky Adcock, both of Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mitzi; two daughters, Gina Ballew and Bobbie Edde; two grandchildren, Robert Edde and Stephanie Cates; one stepson, Chester Kintz; and three brothers, Oral L. Edde, Larry W. Edde, and Burr P. Edde II.
