Sunday Evening, August 30, five lovely young ladies competed in the 2026 Cole Camp Fair Queen, The contestants were, Miss Andrea Michelle Dieckman, daughter of Mike and Bridget Dieckman. She described herself as ambitious, caring and smart.
Miss Grace Harms is the 17 year old daughter of Darin and Cristel Harms. Her self-description words are hard working, genuine and energetic.
Candidate number three was Alivia Marie Haase, the 18 year old daughter of James and Sonya Haase. She says she is empathetic, outgoing and optimistic.
The fourth candidate was Brooklyn Schardan. She is 17 and the daughter f Ron and Vanessa Schardan. She describes herself as inspiring, creative and ambitious.
Fifth girl in the contest is Laura Ruth Braun. She is the 17 year old daughter of Reverend Allen and Laura Braun. She says she is energetic, silly and loyal.
Earlier in the day the candidates were interviewed separately by the three judges. The interview counts for 40 point in the scoring. The three judges were from the Sedalia area.
Next came the talent portion of the contest and each girl could possibly score 40 points in this section. They are judged on originality, content, showmanship, stage presence, presentation, interpretation and technical excellence.
Final event was evening gown. It has a point value of 10 points as does the public speaking part of the evening.
The Judges submitted their decision for the three Finalists. They are Grace Harms, sponsored by Thaney Brockman of Shelter Insurance Alvinia Haase, sponsored by Hickman's Smokehouse and Laura Braun, sponsored by Mt Hulda Church Ladies Aid.
One of the three will be the 2026 Cole Camp Fair Queen. The first runner-up receives $300. Second runner up is given $200 and the Queen is awarded the crown and $500. They are expected to ride in the Parade all three nights and the winner will be announced on Thursday night at the Fair Parade.
A few things I left alone but that you may want to look at on the editing pass: "the daughter f Ron" is missing the "o"; the finalist is called "Alvinia Haase" here but "Alivia Marie Haase" earlier; there's no punctuation between the Harms and Haase sponsor entries; and "counts for 40 point" is likely meant to be "points."
