Second Half Pounding Buries Shorthanded Lincoln

Taking a line from the old Dragnet TV series, "Just the facts ma'am, just the facts", describes Lincoln's loss to Adrian 48-8 on Friday night. Lincoln dressed out 19 players, missing two key skill players going in. After a strong first half, with Adrian scoring in the last 23 seconds to make it 19-8, the wheels came off for the Cardinals in the second half.

No less that six starters went down with bench sitting injuries as Adrian ran away with the game. Adrian had 38 players and wore the Cardinals down with substitutions of well rested players.

The number two ranked Class 1 school's only loss came in the second game of the season to undefeated at 6-0 and fourth ranked in Class 2 Warsaw, 28-21.

Lincoln head coach Brad Drehle said, "We played hard. I am very proud of our effort tonight. We need to get healthy and get better."

Adrian scored at 7:41 on a nice pass from Colton Miller The PAT kick missed, but was 6-0.

At 6:37, Adrian scored again on a 35-yard run down the left side. Miller's kick was good and it was 13-0 after one.

Dawson Parrott scored on a 8-yard run and the PAT on a pass from Riley Sanders to freshman Braeden Ferguson made it 13-8.

Adrian intercepted a pass and drove down field and scored on a pass from Miller to Mason Rusow. The PAT failed

The second half was a nightmare for Lincoln with an interception on their first drive.

On the positive side, Lincoln recovered two fumbles, one by Myles Harms and one by unknown player.

Sanders threw 4 interceptions, went 8 for 21 passing for 61 yards and rushed for 95 yards on 9 carries. Parrott rushed for 31 yards on 16 carries with the 1 TD.

Adrian keyed on Parrott all night long. He was 4 for 34 receiving.

Next up is 2-4 Lone Jack on the road. They can run the ball and they have a decent passing attack. It should be a competitive contest.
