Tragedy Comes Alive With Mock Drunk Driving Crash

Cole Camp High School FCCLA members organized a mock crash in the CCHS parking lot to focus on the danger of drunk driving. CCHS junior Madison Paxson was in charge as part of her FFCLA STAR event.

Corporal A.J. Silvey, Sedalia Police Department, and Fire Inspector Jamie Volk, Sedalia Fire Department, assited in planning and completing the docudrama mock crash.

The mock crash was presented to the CCHS student body on March 12. The students attended the crash, the ER scene and a guest speaker Corporal J. D. Howard, public information officer of the Missouri State High Patrol.

Students involved in the mock crash depiction included: junior Grant Rodriguez, who portrayed a drunk truck driver; Payten Shoemaker, a fatality in the drunk driver’s truck; sophomore Riley Raetz, fatality ejected from drunk driver’s truck; freshman, Keyra Stewart, critical injury ejected from truck; sophomore Grace Harms, minor injury, passenger car; teacher Darian Rusk, fatality at ER scene, driver of car.

Make-up artists included: Robyn Schroeder, teen driving safety coordinator Missouri Department of Transportation; sophomore Grace Harms, junior Danica Luetjen, sophomore Riley Raetz and junior Kaitlyn Whitworth.

Student photographers included: junior Kaitlyn Whiteworth, junior Alivia Haase and junior Danica Luetjen. Drone photography was provided by FFA advisor Jake Montemayor.

Cars were provided and placed by InMotion Towing.

Organizations involved included: Cole Camp EMS, Cole Camp Fire, Cole Camp Police Department, Benton County Coroner, Benton County Dispatch, Bothwell Hospital, Fox Funeral Home, RiOak Western Designs, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cole Camp School District Administration, and Cole Camp Maintenance.
