Virginia Evelyn Perkins, 87, of Sedalia, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025, at her home. She was born on October 5, 1937, in Benton County, Missouri, a daughter of James H. and Emma E. (Robinson) Allen.
On March 4, 1957, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to Robert Leonard Perkins, who preceded her in death on May 6, 2019. This union was blessed with five children: Wanda, Donald, Marvin, Leroy, and Jim.
Virginia attended school in Cole Camp and graduated from Cole Camp High School in 1955. She then began working in the advertising department for the Sedalia Democrat-Capital, and later with A.B.C. Advertising in Aurora. The rest of her life was spent raising and caring for her family.
She is survived by her five children, Wanda Dirck and husband Dennis of Green Ridge, Marvin Perkins and wife Sue of Cole Camp, Donald Perkins, Leroy Perkins, and Jim Perkins, all of Sedalia; three sisters, Magdalene Estes and Eunice Bristow, both of Warsaw, and Madge Grabowski of Dupont, Pennsylvania; a brother, Paul D. Allen of Lincoln; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Lappat of Independence and Alice Pruett of North Kansas City; a brother-in-law, Leo Perkins of Kansas City; seven grandchildren, Janna Hall, Deanne Ladd, Daniel Dirck, Matthew Perkins, Emily Niemeier, William Perkins, and John Perkins; six step-grandchildren, Joey Dirck, Denise Percival, Cassie Parrish, Norman Hefner, Luke Hefner, and Megan Houser; seven great-grandchildren, Mason Moore, Maddox Hall, Emery Glenn, Bryce Dirck, Chloe Dirck, Rhett Niemeier, and Charlotte Niemeier; fourteen step-great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Sydney, Zoey, Merick, Shelby, Declan, Abby, Seth, Ellie, Liam, Trent, Taigen, Cameron, and Lairyx; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Emma Allen, a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Perkins, and three brothers, Elmo Allen, Elmer Allen, and Eugene Allen.
Prayers of the rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cole Camp with visitation to follow.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cole Camp with Father John Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Sedalia. Pallbearers will be Matthew Perkins, William Perkins, John Perkins, Daniel Dirck, Mason Moore, and Thomas Hall.
