Viva Jubilee Days! Iconic Celebration Brought Crowds, Community Together

Despite the predictions of rain, all the Jubilee Days events went off without a hitch as the 57th annual celebration drew big crowds.

Jubilee Days started with the Baby Contest on Wednesday night. First place girl winner of the Baby Jubilee contest was Laiklyn Poe and first place boy winner was Colton Tackett, both were in the 0 to 6 months category.

In the individual categories: Girls (0-6 month), Laiklyn Poe, first; Leia Dollar, second; (7-12 month), Avelynn Swofford, first; Paisley Flippin, second; Saige McMannanna, third; (13-18 months), Scarlett Ptomey, first; Harper Munsell, second; Rachel Sanders, third; (19-24 months) Suttyn Anne White, first.
Boys, (0-6 months) Colton Tackett, first; Gunner Lance White, second; Lucas Turner, third; (7-12 months) Leon Ayase Good, first; James Robert Adler, second; Atlas Gemes, third; (19-24 months) Kamden Reinertsen, first; Lane Rogers, second; Cody Wade Remington Koehl, third.

The Jubilee Days Queen and Princess contests were held on Thursday in the Warsaw Community Building.

Karly Keele was crowned as the 57th Warsaw Jubilee Days Queen. First runner-up was Jennifer Murdock and second runner-up was Grace Drake. Talent and Interview winner was Karly Keele and Most Photogenic was Aleanah Yoder. Best Dress and Best Sash went to Isabella Schwartz and Miss Congeniality was Jennifer Murdock.

Riley Nevius was crowned as the 2024 Jubilee Days Princess. First runner-up was Austyn Wright and second runner-up was Layla Sanders. Talent winner and Best Dress winner was also Riley Nevius. Layla Sanders was the Interview and Photogenic winner. Sash winner was Lexi Brown. Austyn Wright won Miss Congeniality.

Jubilee Days chairman Chuck Allcorn presented Mary Shinn with the John Wiest Award for her many years of service to the Jubilee Days celebration during the Queen and Princess contest.

On Friday night, the Junior Miss and Little Miss contests were held.

Bailey Steenburgen was crowned as the Jubilee Days Junior Miss. First runner-up was Hailey Hinkle and second runner-up was Josie Parker. Anniston Richardson won Photogenic and Congeniality. Hailey Hinkle won Best Dress and Interview. Bailey Steenburgen won Talent and Bell Fluty won the Sash award.
Lilliana Domer was crowned as the Jubilee Days Little Miss. First runner-up was Haven Hinkle and second runner-up went to Alaina Sanders. Livi Rogers won Photogenic. Haven Hinkle won Best Dress. Molly Spry was the Costume and Little Miss Personality winner. Lilliana Domer won the Interview award. The Sash winner was Gabriella Sloan.

Saturday morning there were turtles up and down Main Street for the annual Jubilee Days Turtle Race. Winners included: ages 0-2, first place, Dutton Webster; second place, Lane Rogers; third place, Holtyn Wright. Ages 2-4, first place, Carter Scott; second place, Cora Wisdom; third place, Lakelyn Gettman. Ages 4-6, first place, Holland Wright; third place, Aubree Michalsen. Ages 6-8, first place, Emsley Ann Fredrick; second place, Addi Michalsen; third place, Carter Poe. Ages 8-10, first place, Jase Muldoon; second place, Josie Parker. Ages 10-12, first place Teagan Rogers; second place, Houston Morales; third place Carli Callaway. Adult, first place, Chase and Nicki Wright. Overall Grand Prize Turtle, Evelynn Wisdom.

After the parade, the Jubilee Days Bike, Car and Truck Show was held. Winners included: Best of Show Car/Truck, Tim Korff from Norborne, MO for his 2022 Chevy Corvette.

Jubilee Days Choice, Jeff Seelen from Sedalia for his 2013 Corvette Grandsport.

Other winners included: Classic Muscle, first place, Eldy Benelze, from Sedalia, 1968 Ford Mustang; second place, Norval Green, Independence, 1968 Chevy Chevelle SS.

Modern Muscle, first place, Tim Korff, Norborne, 2022 Chevy Corvette; second place, Rick and Melissa Askins, Sedalia, 2020 Ford 500.

1974-Earlier Cars, first place, Ron Burns, Deepwater, 1956 Ford Thunderbird; second place, Steve Gaston, Deepwater, 1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. 1975-1999 Cars, first place, Eddie Chitwood, Warrensburg, 1978 Ford Mustang; second place, Ernest Olson, Hermitage, 1981 Chevy Corvette.

2000-Current Cars, first place, Larry Yount, Warsaw, 2005 Cadillac XLR; second place, Gary Waisner, 2017 Corvette Stingray.

Custom Motorcycles, first place, Tony Daugherty, Warrensburg, 2000 Honda Shadow; second place, David Wiltz, Urich, 2003 VW Trike.

1971-Current Trucks, first place, Stan Smith, Warrensburg, 2003 Chevy Silverado; second place, Paul Gardner, Linn Creek, 1972 Ford F250.

Modified Trucks, first place, Ross Polson, Odessa, 1968 Chevy C-10; second place, Carl Miller, Norborne, 1972 Chevy C-10.

Also performing after the parade were Karaoke performers. Results included: Tina McReynolds, first place; Genesis Banks-Moore, second place and Caitlyn Chewning, third place. The Judge’s Choice award went to Cheli Petrie.

According to the judges, “It was truly amazing to see so much talent.”

Judges included: Renee Rorie Henderson, Cynthia Denise Gassen, Tim Gassen, Lisa Delap Treece and Kenneth Treece.

Chairman Allcorn commented that the annual celebration was a big success.

“We had a little problem with electricity for the street concert, but our community workers jumped in and came up with generators to make the concert happen," Allcorn said. "Warsaw is a great community and it takes everyone to pull Jubilee Days together. Thank you to all our amazing volunteers.”
