Thirty-five pints of blood were collected from 40 persons registered for the blood drive held by the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks at the Windsor United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 13.
Rodney Wesner was awarded a 32-gallon pin as he was recognized for having donated 256 pints for a total of 32 gallons which he has donated over the past 68 years. Rodney remembered that he had donated blood for the first time on his birthday on September 9, 1957. He has donated blood at nearly every blood drive except four years when he was first married. He resumed donating blood regularly after his wife, Beverly, received a pint of blood for surgery.
Other blood donor pins were given to Twila Wolf, 9 gallons, and a member of the Amish community, 2 gallons.
Five volunteers assisted in providing snacks and beverages for donors. The women of the Windsor United Methodist Church provided sandwiches and beverages, and the First Baptist Church donated cookies, crackers, and cheese.
The next blood drive in Windsor will be on Thursday, May 15, 12 noon to 6 p.m., at the Windsor United Methodist Church.
