Winless Cole Camp Still Searching For Answer In Frustrating Season

The Cole Camp Bluebirds are still looking for their first win of the season. Visiting Butler scored 16 points in the first and 12 in the second quarter on their way to a 40-6 drubbing of winless Cole Camp (0-6).

The third quarter went scoreless but in the fourth, Grant Rodriguez dropped back at the 42 and hit Blake Abney at the 25, who took the ball to the house for their only points of the night as the PAT failed.

Head coach Kevin Shearer commented after the game, "We are struggling with a lack of execution. We have good practices, we practice hard, we struggle to turn it over to a game. Football is never easy and it will never get easy. We need to get better."

One bright spot is the junior, Rodriguez. He is very passionate about winning and will only improve as time goes on.

Butler's defense keyed on him throughout the game. Rodriguez was 10 for 16 rushing and 6 for 16 passing for 78 yards and 1 TD.

Shearer commented, "We are passing more than we like. We try to pass on off downs to try to shock you. It is frustrating, when we have pass protection, we don't make good reads. If we make good reads, then they are in his face."

Rodriguez also led on defense with 11 tackles.

The worst record in Cole Camp's 20 year history is 3-7 which is surprising as most schools have faced worse records. Cole Camp will travel to Midway this week and host Lincoln and Adrian to end the season.
