Billy L. Gray, 95 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, May 3, 2024 in the comfort of his home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Eastgate Christian Church 4010 S River Blvd, Independence, MO 64055 with graveside service at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at Englewood Cemetery in Clinton, MO. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Wednesday at the church. Billy was born January 30, 1929 in Clinton, MO to Fred B. and Ida (McLain) Gray. On March 14, 1952 Billy was united in marriage to Peggy L. Dunning. Billy served in the National Guard. He retired from Bendix Corporation (Honeywell Ind.) after 40 years of service.
He was a member of Eastgate Christian Church where he served faithfully in many capacities for decades. Having been raised on the farm, he loved all aspects of the outdoors. He loved bowling, hunting, camping and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Peggy Gray of the home; their daughters, Cindy McKay and husband Dale of Independence, MO and Kim Stripling and husband John of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, Nathan McKay, Adam McKay and wife Solissa, Derek Stripling and wife Jen, Cole Stripling and wife Alex and Brianna McKay; great grandchildren, Vivianna McKay, Everly and Mia McKay, Carter and Lucy Stripling and Noah Stripling.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 1 sister of which he was the youngest.
Billy’s legacy will continue for generations.
