Cole Camp Survives Holden Comeback For First Win

Cole Camp played Holden at home on Tuesday, August 3, winning in 5 sets; 25-17, 26-24, 24-26,15-25, 16-14.

The Lady Bluebirds took the first two sets only to see Holden come back with two straight victories to force a fifth set confrontation for all the marbles.

The two and a half hour contest ended when Cole Camp junior Marilyn Hesse one-handed tip landed untouched in enemy territory.

Cole Camp lost in three sets in their first outing on the road to St. Paul Lutheran in Concordia.

"We played much better tonight. Our serving is much improved over last season," Lady Bluebirds head coach Abby Massingill commented. "Playing this long will help us at the end of the season".

Stat leaders included: Marilyn Hesse, 14 kills and 14 digs; Leah Allison 11 kills; Mandy Goosen 9 kills; Madilynn Ogle 6 kills, 23 assists, 16 digs; Liv Pilant 14 assists; Kate Harrison 19 digs

Cole Camp played at home on Tuesday versus Osceola and again on Wednesday versus Concordia. Both nights begin with JV contests starting at 5:00 PM.
