Fristoe News

The weather has been cooperating nicely with some really helpful rains through the week! It is hot but not as hot as a week ago!

We received word that Judy Retherford went to be with The Lord last week. We don't know any arrangements, but we understand that Lewis is in the nursing home facility in Clinton. Lewis and Judy have four children; Laura, Jana, Lenora and Eddie. There are also several grandchildren, but I am not sure how many. Judy and the children attended church at Cross Timbers Baptist all the years the children were growing up and later Judy did as long as her health permitted. Judy worked at Unitog in Warsaw for over 25 years.

Prayers this week for Lewis and their family, Kathy First, Gladys Harris, Carolee Apperson and Mary Scarbrough.

Happy anniversary this week to Ray and Ruth Lowry as they celebrate getting married on September 2. Happy birthday shoutouts to Claude Prater and Mary Scarbrough as both celebrate on September 11.

Fristoe should hold it's head up high as one of it's finest, Maddie Arnett, granddaughter of Jim and Teresa Jackman and Dean and Pat Arnett was crowned queen of the Benton County Rodeo on Saturday night. Maddie worked her way up as first she was Little Miss, then she won Princess, and this year she became rodeo Queen. A lot of credit goes to her ride, her horse M&M. Congratulations Maddie!

Fristoe Pentecostal Lighthouse Church had a blessed congregation on Sunday morning as Dave and Connie Cunningham, DoBee and Bryan lead the congregational singing and oh what a blessing. Claude and Delores, along with Sue did a great job on Sweet Beula Land. It was just a wonderful morning of worship! Adult Sunday School began a new unit Sunday studying in Exodus. Br. Smith's message was found in Matthew chapter 12.

The eldest attendee of Fristoe Lighthouse Church is Mary Scarbrough. As I mentioned, she is having a birthday on Wednesday September 11 and she is going to be 97 years old. Her family as well as Lighthouse Church are treating Mary to a birthday dinner on Saturday, September 14 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Cross Timbers Community Building.

Thought for the week: The most valuable gift you can give to your children is a good example!

Hope everyone had a safe and happy Labor Day! May God Bless each and all!
