Fristoe News

Posted

Early in the week was very pleasant and cool. However, in the later part, the weather became much warmer with some moisture forecast but not much occurred in the Fristoe area.

The funeral for Judy Retherford was held Saturday and she was buried in the Fairview Cemetery in Hickory County. I visited with a couple of the daughters, Laura and Lenora for awhile and was glad to be able to as I had not seen either of them for several years. As of right now, Laura is staying in this area.

Continue to pray for Lewis Retherford, Kathy First, Gladys Harris, Carolee Apperson and Mary Scarbrough.

Happy birthday shout-outs to my niece, Patty Sue Helmig-Gilmore this week as well as Donna Grotz, on the 22nd, Kathy First on the 23rd and Bryan Smith on the 26th. Hope you all have great birthdays!

The family of Mary Scarbrough had her birthday party at Cross Timbers Community Building on Saturday afternoon, September 14, and it was well attended. It was Mary's 97th birthday.

Granddaughter Madalyn Arnett has been selling decorated corn stalks and bales of straw as a project for her FFA class at Climax Springs. I think she has been doing really good.

I am bringing word somewhat early about a fundraiser that is being held by the Bethel Campground Cemetery and church board to make money to put on a new roof. This will take place on Saturday, October 26 from 11:00 AM till 4:00 PM; a chili dinner, pie auction and raffle and is being held at the Edwards Community Center.

Remember the Fish Fry that the Antwiler Park Board is holding on October 26 beginning at 5:00 PM.

Next week will bring information on Church Revivals coming to the area.

Fristoe Pentecostal Lighthouse Church had spirit-filled church service on Sunday morning. Br. and Sis. Cunningham led the song service with help from Sis. Elizabeth and Br. Bryan. Sis. Sue sang a great special, as did Claude, Delores and Ken. Br. Smith brought his message from Matthew chapter 11. The spirit moved in a wonderful way. Everyone is encouraged to come and join the Fristoe Lighthouse on Sunday mornings.

Thought for the week: Don't ever let problems get you down--unless it is on your knees!

Hope and pray that all who read the Benton County Enterprise have a safe, healthy and fun-filled week!
