Good Samaritan Care Center Embraces Halloween Holiday

Posted

The month of October is always a fun month for the residents of Good Samaritan. The staff spoke with the residents and questioned if they wanted to dress up for Halloween this year and they were not only interested but excited. So families are asked to bring costumes or even stuff to decorate the wheelchairs and walkers.

The staff is encouraging everyone to join in and dress up on Halloween. The Halloween party is at 2 p.m. and then the residents hand out candy to the kids from 5-7 p.m., that evening. GSCC would greatly appreciate candy donation so the kids and the residents can both enjoy the night.

The residents have made painted pumpkins, colorful leaves, wooden stick puzzles, foam scarecrows, decorated straw hats and started a pumpkin project for this fall. Everyone is working diligently to make the place festive for Halloween.

It’s the time of season changes and time to put away some summer garments and get into warmer fall clothing. The staff requests that if family removes items or brings in new to inform them so they can keep the inventory list current and correct. It’s a god time to remove clothes they do not wear or is worn out.

GSCC always designates a member of staff as Employee of the Month but for October it’s the “entire” staff. Once a year the center gets put on the spot with the State arriving to show the staff how well they operate as a team in the home. This year the evaluation was a huge success; if any have not heard GSCC did not receive ANY deficiencies! This doesn’t happen often and is thanks to the staff. To celebrate everyone’s hard work GSCC is having a “Spirit Week” October 14-18 and a luncheon for the Staff on October 16. It’s time to celebrate the hard work!
