Ladycats Beginning To Gel In Win Over Eugene, Tourney Success

After hitting an early rough patch in their season, the Ladycats volleyball team is beginning to put things together as of late.

Versailles came to town last Tuesday with an undefeated record and after a slow start, Warsaw rallied to play two competitive sets, making the Lady Tigers earn the 3-0 win; 14-25, 19-25, 23-25.

Haylee Cobb recorded 7 kills and 7 digs. Elizabeth Winters and Mady Reimund both had 5 kills. Winters and Kaleby Stevenson tallied 10 assists apiece while

Tanna Howe and Winters picked up 14 and 10 digs, respectively.

On Thursday, Warsaw welcomed Eugene to town and notched a 3-1 victory over the Lady Eagles in front of their home crowd; 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 25-13.

Stats were abound in this one.

Haylee Cobb led the Ladycats with 18 kills with 4 aces while Adison Sherrill and Maylee Slavens contributed 13 and 10 kills.

Elizabeth Winters put up 31 assists for Warsaw and Kaleby Stevenson recorded 13 herself.

Tanna Howe aided Warsaw with 38 digs in the 4 set contest. Cobb jumped in and helped with 17 while Sara Miller recorded 16. Winters had 15 and Julianne

Kilgore notched 12 in the Ladycats win.

On Saturday at the 23rd Annual Midway Tournament, the Ladycats finished in the top 4 of the event after defeating Archie in the opening round; 25-21, 25-23 and then losing a close match to Prairie View in the semifinals by scores of 25-18, 21-25, 26-28.

Earlier in the day in pool play, Warsaw fell to Prairie View; 24-26, 22-25 and then beat Lutheran (KC) by final tallies of 25-23, 25-17 before splitting with West Platte; 15-25 and 25-19.

The Ladycats hosted Conway on Tuesday night. They then hit the road and traveled to Windsor on Wednesday and will go to St. Paul Lutheran (Concordia) on Thursday to finish their week.
