Lakeview Heights Fire Department Will Host Annual Fish Fry Next Saturday

Most of the residents in the Lakeview Heights Fire Department District know the people that volunteer their time to that department are dedicated and give a lot of their own personal time to support the community.

But few of us ever pause to tally their hours. Example, this past week on their regular night for training sessions they traveled to a poultry operation. The LVHFD district has 56 chicken barns and the department toured one of the local poultry farms, while maintaining their bio-security.

There they learned about power and gas shut off locations and about the generator set up as well. The farm they toured had a 30,000 gallon propane storage tank and the group went over some of the safety items with it too.

Over the Labor Day week-end they gathered at Station #3 to put in some much needed work hours there too. Some worked on a construction improvement project inside and then they cleaned, including power washing the exterior.

All this was to prepare for the upcoming fish fry they will be hosting on Saturday, September 14 from 3-7 p.m. at the station. This is one of the biggest fund raisers they have and in addition to the auction items they offer they are raising money for new hydraulic hoses for some of the equipment. They are planning an “in the face” segment. From what I hear you can put a pie in the face of a Lieutenant for $50.00 and the amounts increase up to possibly a $1,000 if it’s the Chief. I’m sure Chief Metscher will take one for the team if someone pays the price. These guys aren’t just great fire fighters but good sports too!
