Lila Jean (Howard) Berryman, age 80, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025, at home. She was born on July 27, 1944, to Clayton and Aileen Howard. Lila attended Cross Timbers and Skyline School and was first married to Ed Button. Together they were blessed with three children: Yale, Christie, and Carrie. They made their home in Edwards, Missouri, where Lila worked as a branch manager for Strout Real Estate. Lila pursued degrees in education and psychology from CMSU and earned her masters degree from Avila, while working full time as a single mother.
On June 15, 1989, Lila married Jerry Berryman, and they shared many wonderful years together. Lila was a woman of many passions. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw, the Warsaw Garden Club, the Master Naturalist Group, the Clay Pottery Group, and the Camera Club. She had a deep love for painting and all kinds of crafts. Lila found joy in nature—fishing, bicycling, kayaking, gardening and appreciating God’s creations. She also generously gave her time volunteering at the Soup Kitchen at the church. She worked as a child psychologist at Royal Oaks hospital in Windsor until she retired at 62.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry Berryman and two brothers, Don and Samuel Howard.
Lila leaves behind a loving family. Three children Yale Button (Leslie) of Stockton, California; Christie Button of Merriam, Kansas; and Carrie Button (Jason) of the home, stepchildren Vickie Whitaker (Leroy) of Warsaw, Missouri; Randy Berryman (Melinda) of Warsaw, Missouri; and Mike Berryman (Tina) of Skiatook, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren: Brock Button of Modesto, California; Alyssa Lawson (Troy) of Riverbank, California; Brent Whitaker (Jackie) of Warsaw, Missouri; Julie Parker (Nathan) of Warsaw, Missouri; Nikki Campbell (Jason Pierce) of Platte City, Missouri; Danelle Sibley (Ralph) of Kearney, Missouri; Kristi Berryman of Kansas City, Missouri; Laina Berryman (Maulin Patel) of Kansas City, Missouri; Jordan Kincaide (Brandon) of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Taylor Harrington (Collin) of Texas.
She also leaves behind nineteen great-grandchildren: Josie Parker, Brock Parker, Aspen Whitaker, Gage Whitaker, Kya Schepker, Faith Chrisope (Alec), Allie Green (Connor), Gavin Campbell, Blake Sibley (Megan), Bailey Martin (Jahmalle), Raegan Harrington, Makenna Harrington, Skylar Harrington, Chase Harrington, Brooklyn Kincaide, Carter Kincaide, Jace Kincaide, Jane Lawson, and Charlotte Lawson, and four great-great grandchildren; Luke Chrisope, Brynlee Sibley, Brystol Sibley and Brooks Martin. In addition, she is remembered by numerous extended family members and many dear friends who will miss her greatly.
Additionally, she is survived by a very dear life-long friend, Mary Mickey of Illinois, with whom Lila has remained in close contact over the many years and miles.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Reser Funeral Home with Pastor Loren Whetsell officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M., one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Warsaw.
