Lincoln Volleyball Gets Big Win On Pink Out Night

Posted

Pink Out is a cancer awareness event held every year at local Missouri high schools. Last Tuesday at Lincoln, money was raised through a silent auction and a hoop ball game. This year the money went to a scholarship in the name of Darren Arndt Eckhoff, who passed away of colon cancer on October, 4, 2019 at the age of 47. Eckhoff was a highly respected member of the community, a devoted family man and a basketball legend at LHS.

In the game itself, Lincoln defeated Green Ridge in three straight sets; 25-23, 25-11, 25-14. Sydney Spry, Alyssa Mellen and Braylin Paxton led the way for the Lady Cardinals. Green Ridge fell to 6-14 while Lincoln moved to 3-14.

The JV won in 2 sets; 25-15, 25-14.

On the night before, Concordia came into town at 7-4, but missing three starters, and it looked like Lincoln could get in the win column after six losses in the recent tournament in Knob Noster.

Lincoln did win the JV contest in two of three sets 20-25, 25-21, 25-15. Freshman Lilly Mellen had an outstanding night, but no stats were available.

The Lincoln varsity lost the first set 25-21 but came back strong in taking the second 25-19. They lost the next two 25-19 and 25-19. The Lady Cardinals' Sydney Spry had one of the best games of her career at the libero position but couldn't overcome the superb performances of Concordia sister's, Aubrey and Addison Roepe.
