Sorghum Days Will Take Visitors Back To Simpler Times

Posted

Step into the 1800's at Kumberland Gap’s third annual Sorghum Days on October 12 and 13!

This exciting weekend will transport visitors back in time with a range of historical experiences and family-friendly activities.

Visitors are invited to watch as a beautiful draft horse powers the mill to begin making sorghum syrup.

They may also take a seat in a one-room schoolhouse to learn what education was like for students in the 1800's.

Live demonstrations of a blacksmith at work are also always a highlight, as well as the authentic 1800's cider press in action, mulled from fresh apples.

There will also be opportunities to see and meet the chickens and pigs that starred in the movie filmed at Kumberland Gap in Summer 2024.

Visitors will be inspired to indulge in snacks, sweets, and drinks from the Saloon, and they'll be inspired by the flavors of the era, sarsaparilla, cookies, cider, and more!

All in attendance are invited to savor a delicious chuckwagon meal cooked over an open fire in cast iron.

The Emporium will be open for visitors to shop Kumberland Gear and time period souvenirs. Some favorites are candy like they had in the 1800's from the Mercantile.

Admission is $8 for adults for a day pass or $12 for a weekend pass; $6 for children 4-12 for a day pass or $8 for a weekend pass. Children under 4 are not charged admission.

Kumberland Gap will be open from Noon until 5:00 PM and is located at 24025 Cumberland Gap Avenue, Warsaw, MO.
