Cardinals Split With Skyline In Close Games

The Lincoln JV won a thriller over Skyline, 34-31 on Tuesday night. That set the stage for the varsity contest in which Skyline won in overtime, 57-53.

Skyline's 5'7" sophomore Aiden Meade swished home eight contested 3's on his way to a 30 point performance. Lincoln tried to slow him down as Riley Sanders sat back in a one man zone to no avail as Meade pulled up for a sweet long range bucket time and time again.

Meade started playing ball in the fifth grade. His father played ball but admitted he never could shoot like his son does. The performance reminded one of the Skyline's sharpshooting Beem brothers of a few years back.

Skyline led 11-10 after one, 26-21 at the half and 37-32 after three. Lincoln outscored the Tigers 14-9 in the fourth to force overtime at 46 all.

Sophomore center Ben Eckhoff had 24 to lead the Cardinals.

LINCOLN (53): Everhart, 4; Cole, 4; Young, 7; Sanders, 8; Smith, 4; Eckhoff, 24; Benham, 2.

SKYLINE (57): Meade, 30; Dampier, 2; West, 8; Owens, 13; Moppin, 2; Foster, 2.

On Thursday, Lincoln traveled to Eugene and lost 62-23. Eugene, ranked #3 in Class 2, led 36-15 at the half. Lincoln fell to 3-8.
