Wildcats Finish Regular Season Losing Two More

After a strong first half of the season that saw the Wildcats go 11-2, Warsaw stumbled in the second half, going just 4-9 to finish at 15-11 overall.
Two of those losses rounded out their schedule last week when the Wildcats fell to Lakeland on Tuesday, 5-4 and Fair Grove, 13-0 on Thursday.
At Lakeland, Warsaw got on the board in the first when Devon Boul singled and Kendall Bagley scored on an error in the outfield and the Wildcats led 1-0.
That lead evaporated quickly in the third though when the host Vikings sent 12 batters to the plate. They picked up 5 runs on 5 hits in the inning to take a 5-1 lead.
The Wildcats got 1 run back in the top of the fifth when Logan Gemes doubled, scoring Jase Hubert to make it 5-2. They tacked on 2 more runs in the top of the sixth when Jayce Depriest drew a bases loaded walk to score Bagley and Gemes hit into a fielder's choice that scored D'Angelo Ramirez.
That was as close as the 'Cats would get though after Drake Murrell drew a leadoff walk in the seventh, Bradley Watson singled, but Bagley grounded into a 5UA-3 double play and hand Warsaw the 5-4 loss.
Garrett Ferguson, Hubert and Watson all had 2 hits for the Wildcats.
Ferguson took the loss on the mound.

Fair Grove used a 7-run third inning to help lead them to a 13-0 shutout of the Wildcats on Thursday night.
The Eagles plated 2 more runs in the fourth and 4 in the sixth to round out their scoring onslaught.
Warsaw drew 6 free passes in the contest but could never exploit those as they came up with just 2 hits, 1 each off the bats of Kendall Bagley and Logan Gemes, over 6 innings.
Josh Bunch absorbed the mound loss.

Despite their lackluster finish to the regular season, the Wildcats still managed to take the number one seed in the Class 3 District 13 tournament. They are slated to take on the winner of the (4) Eldorado Springs and (5) Stover game from Monday night. That contest is scheduled for 4:00 PM on Wednesday, May 16.
That tournament is being played in Versailles.
