Cole Camp Basketball Splits With St. Paul At W-K Shootout

On Saturday at the W-K Holiday Shootout in Sedalia, the Cole Camp Bluebirds defeated a good St. Paul Lutheran squad, 62-56 thanks to clutch free throw shooting (10 for 14) in the final period.

With a 55-53 lead, the Bluebirds' Kolby Bohon hit the sweetest two free throws of his career to make it 57-53. St. Paul's Tate Kriesel hit a three to cut it back to one. Before fouling out, Grady Strathman hit two free throws. Reid Harrison hit two and Gentry Dieckman hit one in the final seconds to put the game on ice.

Dieckman got in early foul trouble and had to sit. Harrison stepped up with 22 points in the first half and finished with 28 for the game, including six threes.

Cole Camp led 15-11 after one, 33-21 at the half. St. Paul roared back to trail just 43-42 after three. Damjomn Milicevic had 21 for St. Paul who fell to 5-2. Cole

Camp moved to 4-3 with three straight wins.

Coach Shearer said, "Harrison stepped up when Dieckman went down. We don't have a strong bench as in years past. We are getting better and we are finding our identity."

The Cole Camp Lady Bluebirds traveled to the W-K Shootout in Sedalia for the 10:30 AM Saturday morning game. They had beaten Sacred Heart 47-6 the night before on the road.

However, it was St. Paul Lutheran who got off to the slow start trailing Cole Camp 16-4 after one. St. Paul sophomore Chloe Fahrmeier scored 14 of her game high 20 in the second quarter though and St. Paul led 25-20 at the half.

The Lady Bluebirds' Mackenzie Moellman scored two quick layups to start the second half but could do no more as St. Paul adjusted and led 35-24 after three.

The final was 48-30 sending Cole Camp home in defeat.

Cole Camp head Coach Derald Henderson said, "We couldn't handle their press. We didn't play well today."
