Cole Camp R-I Board Introduced To New Faculty

The Cole Camp R-I Board of Education met on Tuesday evening, August 20. First order of business was to approve the local tax rate. The tax rate hearing was called to order by President Marty Doogs at 6:00 PM.

Following the calculation tools provided by the state, Cole Camp’s tax levy will remain the same for the 2024-25 school year. This total of $3.87 per $100 of assessed valuation is divided between the incidental fund ($3.25) and the debt service fund (.62). Hearing no public comment, the Board voted to approve the tax levy.

The Board went immediately into the regular meeting and approved the agenda and consent items which consist of the minutes of the previous meetings, the July financials, the sub list and this month, the bylaws for the SPED cooperative.

Under public comment, new staff members introduced themselves to the Board. Bills were paid under action items and the Board approved the change order that would move drainage from Bluebird to under the gravel parking lot and out to the west side of the campus.

The Board also approved the annual SPED compliance plan. Every two years the Board is required to approve Policy G-275 which addresses conflict of interest. This is required by the Missouri Ethics commission. The Board was unable to act on approving MOU (Memorandum of understanding) with the City of Cole Camp for the SRO (School Resource Officer) commission as the City’s Attorney has yet to return them.

Administrators submitted their reports and the next Board meeting was set for September 24 at 6 p.m. The Board adjourned into a closed session to address personnel and contract issues.
