Commissioners Meet With Representatives From USACE

The Benton County Commission meeting was called to order by Presiding Commissioner Steve Daleske on August 19 at 9:00 AM in the Board room.

Presiding Commissioner Daleske reported that he was notified that two individuals were arrested in Henry County for possession of several Benton County Road signs and brackets. An investigation is pending and the Commissioners indicated that they will pursue charges in such instances.

The Commissioners discussed that the bid that was received in June for a 100 gallon water heater for the Detention Center was from C & L Supply in the amount of $17,148.28. It was later determined that this company was unable to supply the water heater as stated. Since it is imperative that this equipment be serviceable in place at all times, City Electric has been contracted and can fulfill this request for a Rheem water heater at a cost of $17,870.14. this unit will be installed by Plumb-Co Contractors, Inc, as was previously determined.

Corps of Engineers representatives Bradly Wright, Rich Chiles, and Dylan Roeder met with the Commissioners to present a proposed memorandum of understanding between the Corps of Engineers and the County pertaining to access points to federal land. The Commissioners will review this proposal before a final decision is reached.

The Presiding Commissioner and District 1 Commissioner Larry Berry met with a MoDOT representative to discuss driveway access on certain property at 65 Highway and Byrum Avenue.

County Treasurer Rick Renno presented his weekly financial report and County Clerk Susan Porterfield submitted bills for approval and payment.
