Ladycats Softball Caps Season With Awards Banquet

Though favored by most to compete at this year's MSHSAA Softball Championships played in Springfield, the Warsaw softball season came to an abrupt end with a 4-1 loss in the semifinal round of the Class 2 District 8 tournament over two weeks ago. But without allowing one game to define an entire season, the Ladycats and their families celebrated their 23-3 season with a banquet on Monday night while also honoring members of this year's roster.

Players for the Ladycats who were recognized for participation and or lettering included:

Freshman: Sara Miller, Maylee Slavens, Brianna Fellers, Mady Reimund, Liliana Perez and Elizabeth Winters.

Sophomore: Hailey Ferguson, Chloie Jordan, Kaleby Stevenson, Adison Sherrill, Tanna Howe, Sadie Chapman and Shayla Kindle.

Junior: Brylee Brewster, Haylee Cobb, Carly Price.

Senior: Autum Walton, Grace Drake, Jaylen McCullick, Olivia Strange, Alison Longhat-Hallock and Lovlie Haidusek.

Junior Varsity awards included:
Offensive Player of the Year-Brianna Fellers
Defensive Player of the Year-Kaleby Stevenson
Most Improved Player-Liliana Perez
Wildcat Award-Grace Drake

Varsity awards included:
Offensive Player of the Year-Tanna Howe
Defensive Player of the Year-Brylee Brewster
Most Improved Player-Sara Miller
Wildcat Award-Jaylen McCullick
Most Valuable Player-Brylee Brewster

Post-season honors included:
All-Conference, Ozark Highlands, 1st team-Brylee Brewster, Tanna Howe
All-Conference, Ozark Highlands, 2nd team-Haylee Cobb, Adison Sherrill
All-Conference, Ozark Highlands, Honorable Mention-Sara Miller
All-District, Class 2 District 8, 1st team-Brylee Brewster, Haylee Cobb, Tanna Howe
All-District, Class 2 District 8, 2nd team-Sara Miller, Adison Sherrill
All-Region, Class 2 District 7/8-Brylee Brewster, Haylee Cobb, Tanna Howe

In addition, Brewster tied the WHS record with 19 wins in the circle. That mark is now held with current coach Kelli (Wenberg) Eierman.

Howe tied school records for doubles with 12 and triples with 7. She shares the doubles record with Karlie Jones and the triples record with her sister, Taylor, and Shawna (Kee) Thomas.
