Vikings Conquer Lincoln In Rout

Posted

After the historical comeback victory last week over arch rival Cole Camp, the Lincoln Cardinals had their wings clipped in a 50-20 defeat at the hands of the Midway Vikings on the road.

It was 37-14 at the half on the cold, windy Friday night.

Cardinals head coach Brad Drehle made some encouraging observations after the tough loss.

"We made some plays but we couldn't sustain a comeback," he said.  "We fell behind early 14-0 before we scored on a pass from Riley Sanders to Dawson Parrott followed by a 2-point pass to Ben Eckhoff. Our kids played hard, and in some areas we improved, but still have work to do."

Coach Drehle added, "We have to refocus quickly and get ready for Homecoming this week versus Wellington.

As far as regrouping. Coach Drehle went on to say, "We will put together a good week of work and go out Friday night and honor our Alum with a great effort."

Defensively, Riley Sanders and Ben Eckhoff had 10 tackles each and Cam Everhart had nine. Dawson Parrott had a quarterback sack.

On the offensive side, Sanders was 6 for 29 rushing yards and completed 11 passes for 202 yards with 3 TD's. Parrott caught 5 balls for 49 receiving yards  with 2 TD's. Eckhoff had the 2-point conversion. Camden Everhart whad 17 rushes for 61 yards and reeled in 3 pases for 22 receiving yards. Elijah Smith gained 14 yards rushing and Chase Young had 2 catches for 27 receiving yards with 1 TD.

Lincoln will end the regular season with homecoming when they host Wellington-Napoleon  this Friday night at Donnelly Field.
