The Warsaw Wildcat mountain bike team raced last weekend at Fellows Lake in Springfield, Missouri at the third NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) race of the year. The trails were in great condition for racing and the Wildcats were on the top of their racing game.

The 11/12th grade “A” riders were first off the line. They rode 3 laps for a total of approximately 15 miles. Warsaw’s Joe Vorce claimed a spot on the podium with a 5th place finish in the first group.

Owen Rehmer of Cole Camp, racing in the “B” category for 11/12th grade, won his third consecutive race of the season.

Keira Mostaffa is Warsaw’s 11/12th grade female “A” rider and she came out on top at Fellows Lake for her second consecutive win.

Bradyn Rehmer of Cole Camp raced in the 9th grade “A” category amongst some fast competition. He claimed a spot on the podium with a strong 4th place finish. Bradyn has been on the podium for every race this season.

Clay McMillin, who despite being unable to attend practices, still finished 5th in his 8th grade “A” category.

Caden Casteel and Jett Fluty raced in the 7th grade “A” category amongst some very fast 7th graders! Caden took second at Fellows Lake and Jett placed seventh. Caden has been on the podium in every race this season.

Silas Braton raced in the 7th grade “B” category and he took third. Silas has also placed on the podium at every race this season.

NICA is all about fun, inclusivity, equity, respect, and community. They depend on volunteers to fill many different roles during their race weekends, and Warsaw is proud of all of our parents and coaches who help fill these roles so kids can race safely.

The goal of NICA is to build strong bodies and minds through mountain biking. Any students in grades 6-12 are eligible to race NICA.  If you are aware of anyone who is interested in becoming a part of this awesome group, contact Mac Vorce at (660) 723-9705.
