Benton County Commission Accepts Bids For Gas, Fuel

Bids were accepted for gasoline and diesel at the June 10 meeting of the Benton County Commission. Commissioners Larry Berry, Scott Harms and Presiding Commissioner Steve Daleske were all present.

District 1 Commissioner Larry Berry made the motion to approve the bid for Road District #1 for diesel fuel from Zollicker Oil Company at a cost of $2.905 per gallon. District 2 Commissioner Scott Harms seconded the motion. The motion passed. The other bid was received from Warsaw Oil Company at a cost of $3.04 per gallon.

Commissioner Berry made a motion to approve the bid for Road District #1 for unleaded gasoline from Zollicker Oil Company at a cost of $2.725 per gallon. The motion passed. The other bid was received from Warsaw Oil Company at a cost of $2.74 per gallon.

A county resident telephoned the Commissioners requesting information pertaining to current fence laws.

The Commissioner left the Courthouse office at 9:45 AM to attend the ribbon cutting of a new business, Goetze Brothers Carpet. They returned at 10:15 AM.

A concerned citizen met with the Commissioner to discuss road conditions on McLaughlin Avenue.

A telephone conference call was conducted with Cindy Smith, a resident on the Benton/St. Clair County line. She requested maintenance along McLerran Road.

Commissioner Berry will review the area in question to ensure that the property is located within Benton County.

County Treasurer Rick Renno presented his weekly financial report and County Clerk Porterfield submitted bills for approval and payment.

Benton County Economic Development Director Jo Ann Lane met with the Commissioners to present the monthly report of economic development efforts within the county.
